the Sit Spot Challenge:

Yes, that's the beauty of Sit Spots – anyone can do them, any time. But doing it alone can feel a bit alien and unstructured – like you're zoning out, not tuning in – and you won't have access to activities that help you learn naturalist skills like bird language, reading the landscape and fox walking.
On top of this, joining the challenge means you'll have access to Nature Philosophy trained mentors, plus a private Facebook community of people who are learning about Sit Spots with you.
Plus, once you sign up you'll have lifetime access to all the materials so you can return to the fundamentals whenever you need more support.

If possible we highly recommend using the same location in nature for the 7 Day Sit Spot Challenge.
This will increase your chances of getting to know your local environment. Sitting in one spot also makes it more likely you will have interactions with the birds and animals who you share the location with.
That being said, we've had plenty of participants need to move their Sit Spot due to work or life commitments and still have an awesome experience during the Challenge!

Over the past few years we have found most of our participants like to complete their 60 min Sit Spots either first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon.
Sit Spots are most effective when you can observe the flow of the natural world for a 60 minute period, over a series of days. So, it's very supportive to sit when nature is most active and you can see and hear more!
This is amazing to aim for but we don't recommend getting hung up on it. Remember, the most important thing is to actually get out the door and give it a go - no matter what time of day.
